Darvault
This young commune, created at the beginning of the 20th century, was attached to Moncourt-Fromonville.
As testified by megaliths, there is evidence of a human presence on the territory of Darvault since prehistoric times. As early as 1140, the name Darveia appears in texts. At the end of the 15th century, the village belonged to the Joye abbey and then to Antoine Hutin, who was the seed merchant of Nemours. From the 19th century onwards, quarrying replaced viticulture in the local economy.
Its sandstone church, built between 1913 and 1938, is dedicated to the Sacred Heart and attests to the attachment of the inhabitants of the time to this devotion. The oldest elements of Darvault's heritage are the communal stone and wood wash house and the castle, both dating from the 19th century.
