Chevrainvilliers

Chevrainvilliers

This village, whose activity was mainly agricultural, had two small 17th century castles that were later transformed into fortified farms, and two ponds that were once used to water cattle. The church of Saint-Fiacre, built between the 12th and 15th centuries, served as the necropolis of the lords of Chevrainvilliers.

Another building attests to the agricultural past of the commune: the old brick graterie dating from the end of the 19th century. The purpose of this factory was to grate the beetroot and extract the sugar which was then transported to the sugar factory at Souppes-sur-Loing.
